The RECOACTIV® Joint Tonic Forte is specially designed to regulate joint metabolism in osteoarthritis (painful, inflammatory and degenerative processes in the joints) and to maintain joint mobility.
It is particularly suitable for animals weighing 20 kg or more with restricted mobility caused by osteoarthritis, for animals with signs of cartilage wear due to age, injury or misalignment, as well as in cases of heavy strain and for prophylaxis.
RECOACTIV® Gelenk Tonicum prevents nutritional deficiencies and supports the supply of specific, necessary nutrients to the joints, such as chondroitin sulphate and glucosamine (glycosaminoglycans), green-lipped mussel extract and omega-3 fatty acids.
The glycosaminoglycans (GAG) chondroitin sulphate and glucosamine are important cartilage building materials that are required for water binding capacity and elasticity. MSM, devil's claw and willow bark are also included for support. The tonic is very well tolerated over the long term and is optimally absorbed thanks to its liquid form.
What is osteoarthritis / arthritis in dogs?
Osteoarthrosis, or osteoarthritis for short, is a degenerative wear and tear of joints, cartilage and bones. The causes can vary in nature, ranging from mechanical wear and tear due to congenital deformities and excessive strain to infections caused by germs, bites or ticks, for example.
It is not uncommon for osteoarthritis and arthritis to be mutually dependent and favour each other in a negative sense. As a result of damage to the cartilage, the so-called shock absorber, inflamed joints (acute arthritis) cause pain when standing up and lying down and, as the symptoms progress, also during general movement. To avoid pain, the affected animal adopts a protective posture or avoids movement in general, and the joy of playing decreases. This is accompanied by stiffness after periods of rest and loss of joint elasticity (hardening of the joint capsule), which reduces the animal's quality of life. A lack of exercise leads to a loss of muscle mass, the joints are less protected and, with increased weight, are exposed to additional stress.
The process of acute and chronic degradation in the affected joints continues. It is therefore extremely important to maintain moderate exercise, as this promotes blood circulation and thus activates and enables the necessary supply of nutrients to the joints via the synovia ("synovial fluid"). It is therefore essential to break the negative interaction between avoiding movement due to pain and intensifying the symptoms due to a lack of movement!
How can arthritis in dogs be treated?
In the short term, pain can be reduced by using pain-relieving preparations, which, however, put a strain on the stomach, liver and kidneys in the long term. Inflammation should also be treated, as there is a risk of further loss of cartilage and bone substance. Here, natural active ingredients that are analgesic and anti-inflammatory can be used supportively and permanently to reduce or, depending on the symptoms, completely balance out the medication and thus promote the animal's health and quality of life.
Moderate exercise and in particular the high-dose supplementation of ingredients that are important for joint metabolism, such as omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin E, green-lipped mussel, chondroitin, devil's claw and MSM, can significantly support the supply of nutrients to the joints and thus maintain their health.
RECOACTIV® products contain important vitamins and trace elements and are made from natural, food-grade ingredients. They are free from cereals, colourings and preservatives.
